PT 536 - Cardiopulmonary PT I


This course is the first in a two-course sequence. In this course students will develop clinical decision-making skills for physical therapy management consistent with the Guide to Physical Therapist Practice for persons with primary cardiopulmonary pathology, as well as integrate cardiopulmonary patient management across all patient populations. Specific to this course is presentation of the natural history, etiology, and medical management of the primary diseases of the cardiopulmonary and pulmonary systems. Students will develop appropriate physical therapy examination and intervention skills that apply to the patient with primary or secondary cardiovascular and/or pulmonary disease. Students will use the literature to direct the clinical decision-making process relevant to course topics.
