PP 462 - Introduction to the Drug Development Process

This course is designed to introduce the student to the basic elements of the drug development process. This will include discussions on drug discovery and preclinical processes related to drug development, with a particular emphasis placed on Phases II and III clinical research trials and their roles in the development and approval of medications. Further, the course will explore the FDA regulatory role in delivery of drug therapies to the patient and then examine the role of the pharmacist in understanding clinical research as it relates to delivering pharmaceutical services to the patient.
